As we’re having such a lovely summer an invitation from Fairmont Hotels and Resorts to Glorious Goodwood in West Sussex for a day at the races seems like a great chance to put on some glad rags, don my latest Susie Hopkins titfer and have a little flutter.
Who’ll be first out of the stalls for ‘The Hat Stakes’? Our host Lucinda Buxton of Mango PR wearing Gina Foster or Alice in a Susie Hopkins straw beret decorated with summer fruits?
In the Fairmont box Emily Jones, ex-jockey turned entertaining tipster, gives us her selections for the afternoon’s races.
Placing my bets – but I think I should be hedging them.
I’m wearing my favorite red stretchy dress and a multicolour Alice & Co silk twill jacket. Well, you don’t want to be outshone by the jockeys!
Their brilliantly patterned silks look fabulous and have stimulated some great new Alice & Co jacket ideas for work, play or even horseracing! Have a look at my Goodwood-inspired designs at the bottom of this post.
I didn’t do too well with my betting, but the traditional Afternoon Tea created by the Savoy Hotel in London was a clear winner.

A silk ‘jockey’ Alice & Co jacket would be perfect to slip over a dress as the evenings get cooler.
How about one with a Liberty print silk body and matching plain silk sleeves? Contact Alice & Co to discuss having one made to measure.
